There was great excitement on Wednesday the 21st of February when Olympian Thomas Barr came to visit Bunscoil na Cathrach. Ms.Hanly's 3rd class B won a visit after completing the Dare to Believe Primary School's Programme. Thomas Barr, an olympic hurdler from Waterford, was welcomed to the school during a whole school assembly and activity workshop. He spoke to the children about the importance in having a positive mental outlook, trying your best and showing dedication to achieve success. He received rapturous applause when demonstrating how to jump over hurdles. Thomas Barr is hoping to qualify for the 2024 Olympics in Paris this summer. All in Bunscoil na Cathrach wish him the best of luck in this and hope that the enthusiastic welcome he received will help spur him on to achieve Olympic glory.
